Mineral Soil Balancing

Optimize Your Soil with Precision Mineral Balancing.

Restore Nutrient Harmony for Thriving Plants and Landscapes.

Achieve healthier soil and stronger plant growth with our expert soil mineral balancing services. We analyze your soil’s unique needs and apply the right minerals to correct imbalances, improving soil structure, fertility, and resilience. We make sure to only use USDA Certified Organic approved minerals AND to keep the soil microbiology in mind when working on your land. Choose from our analysis-only option or let us handle the full application for a hassle-free, long-term soil health solution.

Submit your own soil sample to Logan Labs. This is called a chemical soil test as opposed to a biological soil test. For a soil-paste-water trio of tests, the cost is around $112 plus shipping. (More information can be found here.) For many situations, it is best to select “complete test w/extras and water suitability test.”

Soil Amendment Frequently Asked Questions

What’s included in a biological soil test?

A biological soil test includes numbers that represent your soil’s microbial community, focusing on bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and nematodes. The detailed analysis identifies the presence and balance of these organisms, which are vital for nutrient cycling and soil health. You’ll receive a comprehensive report with actionable recommendations tailored to your plant’s needs.

What do you use for a biological soil amendment?

We use a compost extract that contains minimum levels of target soil microorganisms. However, depending on the situation, it is possible that we will also apply a compost tea.

What are the benefits of multiple applications versus one?

While a single application of liquid compost extract can provide a short-term boost to soil and plant health, multiple applications over a growing season create lasting improvements. Regular treatments support the establishment of beneficial microbes, improve soil structure, and enhance plant resilience against pests and disease. This consistent approach ensures optimal results for your garden or landscape.

What’s in the BioCompost blend?

The BioCompost (biochar + compost) blend is a rich amendment combining high-quality biochar with premium vermicompost. The biochar improves soil structure, water retention, and carbon storage, while the compost provides essential nutrients and beneficial microorganisms. Together, they enhance soil fertility and promote long-term soil health.

What is soil mineral balancing, and why is it important?

Soil mineral balancing ensures your soil has the right nutrients in the right proportions. Proper mineral levels improve plant health, increase yields, and enhance soil structure, reducing compaction and improving water retention.

How do I get started with soil mineral balancing?

You’ll need to submit a soil sample to a lab for a detailed chemical analysis. We guide you through the process, interpret the results, and create a customized amendment plan based on your soil’s specific needs.

What does your mineral balancing service include?

Our service includes a professional interpretation of your soil test, a customized amendment plan, and the option to have us apply the minerals for you. If you choose our application service, the analysis is included in the cost.

How often do I need to apply mineral amendments?

Most soils only need mineral balancing once or twice per season, depending on initial conditions and plant needs. Some trace elements may be beneficial to apply throughout the growing season.

How does mineral balancing work with biological soil amendments?

Microbial life in the soil plays a key role in unlocking minerals and making them available to plants. If carried out thoughtfully and carefully, combining compost extract applications with mineral balancing enhances both microbial activity and nutrient availability for stronger, healthier plants.

Is soil mineral balancing safe for organic gardens?

In our case, absolutely! We focus on beyond organic, regenerative soil practices that improve long-term soil health. All mineral amendments that we use are approved for use in USDA Certified Organic situations.
